GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR MARKETING UL CERTIFICATIONS
Product, system, process and facility certification Mark usage general marketing guidelines and rules:
1)Make sure that any UL Mark or promotional badge used in advertising, promotion or packaging is consistent with the certification that has been issued by UL to you. For example, the certification Mark used in advertising, promotion or packaging must match the certification Mark appearing on your product. The only exception is when you are enabled to use a promotional badge.
2)Correctly indicate whether a product, system, process or facility is UL Certified, Listed, Classified, Performance Verified or Recognized. Alternatively, if a product, system, process or facility is certified to the requirements of a specific country or region, make sure to use the appropriate UL Mark to indicate the geographic scope of a certification.
3)Any advertising or promotional references to UL must be complete and accurate.
4)References to UL can be made only once you are authorized by UL to use the appropriate UL Mark or promotional badge.
5)UL promotional badges are used exclusively for certification programs utilizing the enhanced and smart version of UL’s Marks. If a product is carrying the legacy version of a UL Mark, use of a promotional badge for any purpose is prohibited except under certain circumstances. Alternatively, if a product is carrying an enhanced UL Mark, use of a legacy UL Mark in advertising, promotion or packaging is prohibited.
6)The UL Mark or promotional badge may never appear more prominently in any promotions or packaging than the company or brand name associated with the product, system, process or facility.
7)The UL symbol and any words used to describe a UL certification must be large enough to be clearly legible.
Promotional materials, ads and packaging should only illustrate product, process or system uses that are consistent with a UL certification.
8)If UL certification is withdrawn for any reason, remove all references to UL and UL certification from your advertising, promotions and packaging, and discontinue any further use of any associated UL references, UL Mark or promotional badge.
No degree of acceptability, or level of safety or protection should be implied in promotional materials of a UL certified product, system, process or facility.
9)Products, systems, processes or facilities simply evaluated to UL Standards or certified to UL Standards by other organizations are not eligible to use any UL Mark or promotional badge for any purpose. Do not use any UL Mark or refer to UL in advertising, promotions or packaging for products, systems, processes or facilities that are not UL certified.
