Do Fire Doors In Residential Security Rooms Need Door Closers?

Date:Sep 08, 2020

Residential fire doors do not need to be equipped with door closers, and safe rooms are used as indoor doors, and there is no regulation.

The safety room does not need a safety door closer for the following reasons:

1. The door closer is mainly suitable for public passage places, which can ensure that the fire door is closed in time to prevent the spread of fire and smoke. Each household in the residential building is a separate fire protection unit, and the indoor space is limited.

2. Two hours fire rated door with door closers are troublesome in daily use, easy to damage, and become useless after damage.

In summary, the timber fire doors of the security room may not be equipped with a door closer, but a fire lock that meets the requirements should be used.
