Width requirements of evacuation doors

1. Public buildings


1) In addition to relevant regulations, the clear width of evacuation doors and safety exits in public buildings should not be less than 0.90m, and the clear width of evacuation walkways and evacuation stairs should not be less than 1.10m.

2) The evacuation exit doors of crowded public places and auditoriums should not be equipped with thresholds, and their clear width should not be less than 1.40m, and there should be no steps within 1.40m close to the doorway. The clear width of outdoor evacuation passages in crowded public places shall not be less than 3.00m, and shall lead directly to spacious areas.


2. Residential


The total clear width of the door, safety exit, evacuation walkway and evacuation stairs of residential buildings shall be determined by calculation, and the clear width of the door and safety exit shall not be less than 0.90m, evacuation walkway, evacuation stairs and evacuation outer door on the first floor The clear width should not be less than 1.10m. The clear width of the evacuation stairs with railings on one side of the residences with building height not greater than 18m shall not be less than 1.0m.


3. Workshop


1) The total clear width of the evacuation stairs, walkways and doors in the factory building shall be calculated and determined based on the number of evacuees and the minimum clear evacuation width for every 100 persons not less than the following table. However, the minimum clear width of evacuation stairs should not be less than 1.10m, the minimum clear width of evacuation walkways should not be less than 1.40m, and the minimum clear width of doors should not be less than 0.90m. When the number of evacuated persons on each floor is not equal, the total clear width of the evacuation stairs shall be calculated layer by layer, and the total clear width of the lower stairs shall be calculated according to the number of evacuated persons of the most evacuated persons on this floor and above.


2) The total clear width of the outer door on the first floor shall be calculated based on the number of evacuated persons on the first floor and above, and the minimum clear width of the door shall not be less than 1.20m.
